William Lescaze (1896 – 1969) was born in Switzerland and educated in architecture in Geneva and Zurich under first-generation Modernist Karl Moser. He moved to New York in 1920, where he established his own practice. He is most remembered as one of the pioneers of the International Style in America. One of his most important commissions, High Cross House, part of former Dartington Hall School known for its progressive approach to education, is now open to the public through the National Trust.
