High Cross House on the Dartington Hall estate in Devon has closed to the public.
The Grade II* listed Modernist house was designed in 1932 by the renowned architect William Lescaze, and restored by John Winter in 1995. In March 2012 it was taken on by The National Trust and opened to the public. Now the Trust has decided to close it, reporting viewing figures to be too low. The National Trust also manages Erno Goldfinger’s Willow Road home in Hampstead and the Homewood in Esher, Surrey, designed in 1938 by Patrick Gwynne.
