House of the Day: Sunken House by Adjaye Associates

This striking three-storey property in Hackney’s De Beauvoir town was designed by Adjaye Associates in 2007. The site has been excavated to basement level, creating a sunken patio on which the house – a partly prefabricated solid timber structure – is placed.
