Varatojo House byAtelier Data is near the city of Torres Vedras, Portugal. The building, clad in copper-coloured cement and cork, is built around a sunken wildflower garden. A row of recycled railway sleepers border the property, which can slide open to reveal the ground floor, or slide shut to hide the windows and entrance. An indoor swimming pool looks straight through the house, across to the northern hills. Photography: Richard John Seymour
