Commissioned by textile industrialist Hans Moller, the villa was constructed in Vienna in 1927-28 to influential European Modernist Adolf Loos’ (1870-1933) design.
The author of a number of seminal texts on Modern architecture, Loos advocated clean lines and vast smooth surfaces, strikingly evident in his designs for both the exterior and interior of Villa Müller.
