Michael Newberry (1930-2016)

September 30th, 2016

This article is more than a year old and may contain information that is out of date. Sorry about that.

We were very sad to hear of the recent passing of Michael Newberry, one of Britain’s most important, yet all too often unheralded, Modern architects.

It was Newberry that designed and built the country’s first glass and steel house, amongst other achievements. This was an elegant building designed for himself and his family that, according to this article published in The Age in 1958, had only one internal door (into the bathroom)!
