Jaffe House by William F Cody, in Riverside County, California, was built in 1963. The scale and the large expanses of glass exemplify the architect’s desert modern style. The house has a flat roof with deep overhangs and an inner courtyard with a sheltered T-shaped pool and sun patio. Inside, the large, open living and dining room has views of the San Jacinto mountain. The property was originally purchased by Dr Jaffe from his patient, Groucho Marx. Cody was recommended to Jaffe by his golf partner, Edgar Kaufmann, of the famed Richard Neutra-designed Kaufmann Desert House. The separate guest house initially served as Jaffe’s clinic, where Marx and other Hollywood celebrities would visit. The house is currently on the market for $2,450,000 with Deasy, Penner & Partners.
