This wonderful example of a Mid Century Modern house was designed by the architect Norman Plastow in 1961 and can be found on a quiet residential road in Wimbledon.

History

In April 1964 the house (called ‘Menelaus’ after an ancient Greek king) was published in ‘House Beautiful’ with a set of wonderful pictures and a glowing write up:

“Norman Plastow, ARIBA, has achieved an arresting design with an unusually spacious and elevating effect; plus a good garden back and front.”

An extract from the article is illustrated above.
