Set one road back from the shore, this elevated house in Sandgate has far-reaching views across the English Channel. Taking inspiration from the mid-century house that formerly stood on the site, the architect-owner prioritised light and natural materials, employing a long, lateral plan that makes the most of the coastal vistas. There are three/four bedrooms, generous open-plan living spaces, and an expansive terrace that tracks the sun’s passage from dawn to dusk. A stretch of beautiful beach is minutes from the house, while the centre of Folkestone can be reached in 20 minutes on foot.
