This article is more than a year old and may contain information that is out of date. Sorry about that.
It’s that time of year again as many architects, their peers and the architecture-loving public discuss the pros and cons of each contender for the Stirling Prize, perhaps the most coveted architectural award in Britain.
This years entries are notably more sober than previous years – a reversion to honest straight-talking design after years of more extravagant efforts.
Whether it’s London’s Olympic stadium by Populous , Maggie’s cancer centre in Glasgow by Rem Koolhaus’s OMA , a theatre in Belfast by O’Donnell + Tuomey, a City bank office again by OMA, a Cambridge laboratory by Stanton Williams or an art gallery in Yorkshire by David Chipperfield you choose your own favourite.
The winner will be announced Saturday 13th October.
