This villa was originally completed by Nick Purchase for his own occupation in 2008. The property is located in Lusignac, a pretty medieval hilltop village in the north-west of the Dordogne region in France, and is situated in an oak-wood clearing with fabulous views across beautiful rolling countryside. The house features four bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, an open-plan reception room that opens up to the outside, two kitchens, a balcony study and a rooftop solarium. Outside there is a 12 metre lap pool, as well terraces on many levels. Its arrangement of a double-height living space with accompanying covered terrace on one corner of house is strongly reminiscent of the Mario Botta’s 1973 house designed at Riva San Vitale featured previously on The Modern House Blog.
Lusignac is renowned for its fortified chateau, Romanesque church and stunning views. The house is within walking distance of the village centre (which has an excellent bar / restaurant).
