Written by architecture expert Philip Jodidio, and published by Thames & Hudson, The New Pavilions offers a survey of 80 such structures across the globe.
The publisher explains, ‘The pavilion is the architectural form of the moment, enabling emerging architects to make their mark’. These structures are designed to be less permanent and more experimental than larger structures, affording them a very specific role within the development of contemporary architectural ideas.
The Serpentine Pavilions (two of which are pictured here) feature prominently in the publication, and are recognised as important contributors to the rise in popularity of the pavilion.
