Cape Cod attracted some of the foremost architects of the Modern Movement, including Marcel Breuer and Serge Chermayeff, who built extraordinary houses for themselves, their friends and their clients. Peter McMahon, Founding Director of the Cape Cod Modern House Trust, will discuss the vibrant community that developed there – which included the likes of Walter Gropius, Florence and Hans Knoll, Eero Saarinen and Saul Steinberg – and the distinctive architectural style that emerged.
The Modern House is excited to host this event in conjunction with the Twentieth Century Society, a British charity which campaigns for the preservation of architectural heritage from 1914 onwards.
