Last month, The Modern House’s Founding Director, Albert Hill, took part in a panel discussion at The Zetter Hotel exploring architectural developments that have successfully inspired communities and contributed to modern-day culture.
Alongside Matthew McMillan, the Development Director of Boxpark, and Director of Project Orange, James Soane, Albert discussed the significance of public-facing businesses and brands in forming, and responding to, neighbourhoods and communities.
The panel questioned where issues of ‘design’, ‘placemaking’ and ‘public value’ fit into people’s choices of where to live, work or play, and went on to explore the extent to which the retail, hospitality and property markets have added an extra layer of thinking.
