According to newly released research by housing charity Shelter, soaring rents are eating up an average of 58.7 percent of London families’ total incomes, including the additional child benefits. Rapidly increasing rents in the suburbs are causing a particular problem for families. According to further research by Shelter, the highest median rent for a two bedroom flat is £2,600 per month in Kensington and Chelsea whilst at the bottom of the scale is Bexley where the same would cost on average £800 per month. For rent to account 35 percent of income occupants would need to earn £7,429 and £2,286 respectively. For the full information and to discover rent prices in your area, see Shelter
