This article is more than a year old and may contain information that is out of date. Sorry about that.
This week’s recommended exhibition, rather unusually, is actually located online.
The RIBA have created a series of online exhibitions, one of which is a very interesting and light-hearted, photo-led exhibition about housing across the world today called ‘On the Threshold’. With some great introductions, the exhibition draws out key approaches to the exterior make-up of housing, including: balconies, windows, thresholds and materials. ‘It shows how designers today are challenging traditional forms and re-interpreting the legacies of iconic schemes, using fresh ideas and new materials. In particular, it explores the importance of well-designed entrances and threshold spaces in providing that balance between security and the sense of welcome and delight that underlies our sense of ‘home’.’ To view the exhibition in full, visit: On the Threshold
